Before placing an order for a custom rubber grommet, it's important to consider the environment where the grommet will be used. Different rubber materials will have different properties, and as such, will be used for different environments and applications. For example, are you thinking about custom rubber grommets for an outdoor telecommunications application, or for automotive under-the-hood components? Then you'll need to consider using EPDM rubber, as it has great resistance to different types of weather as well as to heat. On the other hand, if the opening is in a food processing machine or medical device, a grommet made of food-grade silicone rubber will be required, as it will also need to comply with the hygienic requirements of that application. For irregular shapes (like teardrop or rectangle shapes) the best means of communicating your requirements is to provide a CAD drawing or a detailed technical drawing.
